The Red Shark Interview: Making creative celebrity video content with Steven Yee from Wood Island Media

In the latest instalment of The RedShark Interview podcast, Chris Wells talks to Steven Yee,  founder and executive producer at Wood Island Media, who has worked with some of the biggest celebrity brands out there.

"In this chat, we talk about the realities of freelancing with some fantastic advice on handling client expectations, as well as how to tell a good story and a 15-second rule," says Chris, setting the scene.

It's a wide-ranging discussion, covering everything from Steven's early life to some proper film nerdery at the end. They also talk about Steven's short Dear Mom which you can see below.

So, how about working with those clebs, eh? What's the process?

"It starts with vision, timeline and budget," he says. "And it's all about balancing those three things in harmony. You know, the vision speaks to the timeline, speaks to the budget, and all three of them have to play very nicely together with the vision. I always ask for references. Send me videos that you want this video to look like, to feel like we try and really hammer out the tone that we're trying to hit and then go into the deliverables."
