The BLAZAR Mantis 1.33X full frame lenses are now available for pre-order, and some new footage has dropped. Plus there are more details on the company’s Beetle 1.33X. a pancake full frame anamorphic lens set designed to film both horizontally and vertically at the press of a button.

BLAZAR is known for its affordable and fast anamorphic lenses, and the company made quite the splash at IBC last year with the unveiling of its APEX AF 1.33X anamorphic S35 lenses. They are the world's first anamorphic autofocus lenses and so far, a 35mm T1.8 and 50mm T1.8 have been released.

BLAZAR Mantis 1.33X anamorphic lenses - key features

The BLAZAR Mantis 1.33X set of full frame anamorphic lenses are supported by a wide variety of camera sensors. The company says the lenses will deliver a 2X cinematic look and oval bokeh and amber flare, both of which the company is famous for.

The Mantis features a wide range of focal lengths, including 25mm at T2.4, 35mm at T2.0, 50mm at T2.0, 70mm at T2.0, and 100m at T2.4. There is a fairly close focus, 1.25 ft. (0.38m) with the 25mm lens, and up to 2.2 ft. (0.67m) with the 100mm.

Additionally, the lenses feature 14 iris blades, a 36x24mm image circle, 80mm front diameter, 77mm filter thread, and 180° focus rotation. As far as supported mounts go, the Mantis is fairly universal with PL, E, EF, L, RF, Z, and X, without the need for an adapter.

BLAZAR Beetle 1.33X full frame pancake anamorphic lenses

The BLAZAR Beetle 1.33X full frame pancake anamorphic lens set is interesting and a bit different from the company's other lenses, including the Remus, Cato 2X, and Apex. These compact lenses are designed to film both horizontally and vertically.

Why film vertically with an anamorphic lens and professional camera? That's because sometimes the footage you see on social media channels like Instagram and TikTok isn’t always captured with a smartphone. Those creating content related to cooking, fashion, and many other topics will use professional crews, and while they'll film horizontal and crop to 9x16 in post, others will rotate the camera and film vertically.

And with the BLAZAR Beetle 1.33X, you won't need to rotate the camera 90° to film vertically. Instead, the lenses each feature a built-in rotation button that will turn the lens 90°. That's pretty wild! There is no need to rotate the camera and deal with moving the mounted monitor and other devices. Instead, you'll be able to shoot horizontally or vertically with the press of a button.

BLAZAR hasn't released many details about the Beetle 1.33X full frame pancake anamorphic lenses, but so far they've unveiled three focal lengths: 32mm, 45mm, and 65mm, all at T3.2.

Each lens is compact and weighs between 0.59 lb. (266g) and 0.64 lb. (290g). They all feature a 200° focus rotation, 60mm front diameter, 55mm filter thread, 36x24mm image circle, and a close focus of 1.5 ft (0.46mm). Supported lens mounts include PL, E, RF, Z, L, and X.

Price and availability

The BLAZAR Mantis 1.33X full frame anamorphic lenses are available for pre-order with estimated shipping by June 15, 2025. As of this writing, only the 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm are available to pre-order. Pricing is dependent on what mount you choose and if you go with a set of lenses.
